We appreciate your patience and help this morning with our modified drop-off area. The construction crews have been hard at work to repair the water line break. They still have a section coned off where additional work needs to be done. Please be alert, aware and extra cautious when picking up students this afternoon. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, January 13th) there will be a construction crew at Highland to repair a burst water line. This will necessitate some changes to our morning drop-off. The drop-off area in the parking lot will be reduced drastically to allow for construction vehicles. We encourage you to utilize the bus zone drop-off area (be courteous to the buses and others). Because it is a small area for drop-off please be aware that you will not be able to park or wait, it will be a stop, drop, and keep on rolling situation.

Should this repair go into the afternoon we will send out alternate instructions for pick-up, though most likely those students who normally wait near the dumpsters will need to wait near the flag pole.

See the image to see exactly where the construction zone is and how much of the area will need to be blocked off.

Thanks for your assistance and patience as we all work together.

We are expecting a very cold morning tomorrow. A red sign on the marquee will indicate an inside morning. Please remind students that even with an inside morning we still plan to go outside for recess. They need to dress warmly for outdoor play.

If we have an inside morning the Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders go to the lunchroom. The 4th, 5th, and 6th graders go to the gym. They will wait in these areas until the first bell rings.

You may have seen this article (https://highland.alpineschools.org/o/highland/article/2617131) from the district yesterday about wellness rooms. This school year we added one for students and teachers here at Highland. This has been a great place for students who need just a little time with their emotions. Our zen/calm room is located right off the main office. Anytime you are at the school you are welcome to take a peek.

We are all so excited to be back at school. We want to keep all of our students as healthy as possible. Please take note of the "How Sick is Too Sick" flyer and help us follow these guidelines when children are sick.

"The Utah County Health Department wants to remind families that one of the best ways to protect your child and others from the flu is by getting the annual flu shot. The vaccine helps reduce the spread of illness and keeps our classrooms safe and healthy."

You can reach out to our school nurse Amy Anderson (amylanderson@alpinedistict.org) if you have any health related questions.

Thanks and have a great afternoon.
