The best group of kids in all the world sang Christmas songs together this morning. Thank you parents for sharing your students with us every school day! It's an amazing blessing to be part of such a great community.

Today's reminder comes from Mrs. Andes' Class. Our final dress up day is Holiday/Ugly Sweaters. Break out that one sweater you can't wait to wear each year. Tomorrow is also a minimal day. All students are out at 11:30am tomorrow. Breakfast and a snack lunch will be served.

Mrs. Andes' class participated in a service project for the Tiny Tim Foundation today. We appreciate the opportunity to give back.

Tomorrow is Crazy Sock day! This Christmas Reminder comes from 1st Grade today. 1st Graders went on a magical journey via their Polar Express trains today. They even got a gift delivered straight from the north pole.

Parents, please be aware as you are coming for Christmas events and parties: every parent passing beyond the office must have a background check and get a badge/sticker. We will be checking these for every parent coming for parties. Also, any food item brought to the school must be store bought and packaged. Nothing baked or assembled at home is allowed at schools. Both of these rules are Utah State laws, we are required to enforce them for the safety of all of our students. Please call the office if you want to confirm your background check in advance.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. We are looking forward to the last two days of fun at school.

Last week we had the opportunity to recognize two of our amazing teachers. Mrs. Andes received a RISE award from a parent and Miss Heinrich received an award for her achievement in completing the "STEM For Every Classroom" course. We are so lucky to have such wonderful teachers at Highland.

Did you know...every week we have Late Bus Wednesdays . Due to the secondary (middle, jr, and high) school adjusted Wednesday schedule, it delays our buses. The NASA bus is usually fairly on time, but the Gryffindor and Lumiere buses are between 7-15 minutes late on an average Wednesday. They could be even later on snowy or icy Wednesdays. Please plan for these adjusted times for your bus students' arrival time home on Wednesdays.

Want to know where your students bus is in real time - consider downloading the stop finder app. This app allows you to see updates on your student's bus and see which stop they are at. This could become very helpful as we approach the days of more inclement weather. If you can't find your family's email invitation for access, you can call the transportation office or call us at the school and we can help.

There will be No December PTA meeting tomorrow. Instead, we ask that you think about serving on a committee or in a board position next school year. If you, or someone you know, would be a great asset to the PTA leadership - please nominate them. You can fill out a nomination form and place it in the box in the office or reach out to the front office by phone or email.

Thanks for helping support our school and the many programs the PTA sponsors.

Welcome back! We hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.

We have the opportunity this week to participate in a food drive for Tabitha's Way. This is our pre-planned food drive and we are continuing with it as we know there is always a great need near the holidays. Thanks to those of you that participated in both our previous urgent need food drive and are participating in this one as well. Food containers will be located in the main vestibule near the office.

As a reminder, now that cold weather has arrived, we go outside in the mornings and at recess times unless the weather is below twenty degrees, the precipitation is heavy, or there are unsafe conditions. We post on the marquee in bright red on the mornings we will be inside. There are also inside morning signs by the main entry door for students to see. Please ensure your students have the appropriate winter gear for playing outside: warm jacket/coat, good shoes/boots, and even gloves/mittens.

Other events that will resume this week include Botball, Chess, and LEGO Robotics. We will also have our weekly Spirit Day on Friday.
